beautiful day, internal not so

+
We had a beautiful day for our church/neighborhood picnic. From what I saw and heard, the picnic was smooth, lots and lots of people got fed and lots and lots of kids played hard.

I did some stupid stuff in church, and since the lessons - about the tongue, and wisdom, from James, and being like a child, from Mark, convict me, will deal with that this week.

Sometimes I wonder -
Just exactly what does it take to retire at 55?

No good answers... but I'm hoping that my husband's job is going to let us retire when I'm 56. We are willing to scale back... live more simply... not have stuff... not just in the future... but now too. We're doing everything we can to pay down debt... stash money... make sure we have excellent insurance... and retire close to a military base.

Without the husband... not a chance... not an iceberg's chance... would it happen

The notion of increased simplicity attracts me big time. I really would like a smaller house, fewer things, etc.

My husband and I had an on-going discussion about things from his family side, stuff that we've moved for years.

But, we have never been big on buying new, all our furniture is used when we get it, so we've recycled for years.
